Advanced Retouching Techniques with Photoshop CS

The session will focus on special Photoshop techniques that you can use when retouching
photographs. It will include advice on how to prepare images from digital capture or scan,
how to optimize the tonal information and bring out detail in the highlights and shadows.
The main focus will be on professional retouching and repair techniques, showing you the
differences between, and individual application of in the clone stamp, healing brush and
patch tools, to take full advantage of their capabilities. A lot of Photoshop retouching is
based on painting techniques and a sharp eye. This session demonstrates the use of
blending modes and brush techniques to specifically target your retouching work to
remove blemishes and spot-imperfections and adjust skin tones. There will also be advice
and tips on how to combine backdrops and photo elements together in Photoshop CS.
This session is a must for Photoshop users who work with imperfect and damaged photos
and scanned images.

Mario J. Ramirez is Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) in Photoshop CS. Additionally, in
recognition of his teaching expertise, Adobe Systems Inc. awarded him the Adobe
Certified Instructor (ACI) certificate in February 2005. He teaches Photoshop at
the country's only Adobe Authorized Training Center, Philippine Center for Creative
Imaging, and the Meralco MMLDC Foundation. He has taught many, some from countries
like USA, Germany, Denmark and others. He taught personnel of well-known institutions
like Philippine Daily Inquirer, Kodak, PLDT, DepEd, ADB, and Picture Company, among others.
He is regularly invited to speak at prestigious conventions
like Graphic Expo 2004, PSTD and IIEE National Conventions. He voluntarily speaks for
student organizations like IIEE Student Chapter, UP EEE Department and PSHS. Besides
Photoshop, he is also expert in AutoCAD which he learned at Autodesk headquarters in
Sausalito, California. An Autodesk Certified Instructor (ACI), he has taught AutoCAD 2D,
3D, customization and Autolisp to many professionals since 1991. A veteran instructor who
enjoys sharing his knowledge, Mario always aims for an enjoyable learning experience for
his class.
Ige Ramos has been an independent graphic designer for more than 20 years, working
mostly on book and publication design. Working under his trademark, Tomato Graphics,
he earned numerous honors and awards at home and abroad. Prior to Tomato Graphics, he
worked as a designer for Chiye, Tribal Genius, Levi's Strauss Far East, Ballet Philippines
and Tanghalang Pilipino. He holds the distinction of being one of five Filipino graphic
designers featured in the 25 Graphic Designers of South East Asia. He is a former President
of IdN Club Philippines.
Antonio C. Bucu ("Tony"), an electrical engineer by education (Mapua Institute of Technology),
pursued a career in graphic design. From a layout artist for Graphic Solutions (1993) and a
Finalizer for Taipan Bozell Advertising (1994-95), he later co-established (1995) Powerhaus
Unlimited and served as its Creative Director until 1998. He is currently a free lance graphic
designer/writer. He is also the production manager of Kestrel Studios and creative consultant
to Southern Glory International Garments. His special skills include character illustration and
development (for comic books and other publications), writing, and system software diagnostics and
troubleshooting (Macintosh platform).
Ronnie Millevo is a professional Multimedia Lecturer and Professor at the De La Salle University's College of St. Benilde and St. Scholastica's College Manila. He teaches computer graphic courses, such as, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Image Ready, Macromedia Flash, Director and Dreamweaver. He is a practicing multimedia specialist and a fine arts practitioner. He conducts lectures in digital imaging, web publishing, audio-video editing, desktop publishing, 2D animation and CD Rom interactive authoring for corporate functions.
