Eastman Kodak executives in charge of the Greater Asia Region are coming
over to Manila to launch two revolutionary products -- the Kodak
professional DCS Pro Back 645 Digital Camera and the Kodak Thermal Photo
Printer.
Product Manager Simon Shih, Application Engineer James Guu, and Kodak
Professional Digital Manager for ASEAN Steve Seah will launch these new
amazing products at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Peninsula Hotel Manila at
1:00pm to 5:00pm on August 06, 2002.
Shih will conduct a free seminar on the Kodak Professional DCS Pro Back 645
and the thermal printers which will introduce the trailblazing features of
Kodak digital cameras and thermal printers. James Guu and Steve Seah will
conduct hands-on applications and demonstration of these products.
Backed by an innovative extended range imaging (ERI) software, the DCS Pro
Back 645 blends true digital portability with unsurpassed image resolution,
making it the ideal camera for commercial, fashion, high-end portraiture,
wedding photography, and publications, among others.
This technological breakthrough generates astounding image quality,
especially with its 16 megapixel sensor.
On the other hand, the Kodak Professional Thermal Photo Printer redefines
today's digital and on-demand printing technology with its fantastic speed
--- from sitting to selling.
It comes in two versions -- the Kodak Professional 8500 Digital Photo
Printer and the Kodak Professional ML-500 Photo Print System.
The 8500 Digital Photo Printer delivers on-demand photographic quality
printing and proofing. This means that professional photo-quality prints
can be produced right at the photo session when customers are ready to buy.
And it's done before you know it --- in less than 75 seconds.
Unlike several other digital printers, the 8500 Printer can produce up to
8x10-inch print - in either gloss and matte finish. And with a laminate
overcoat, the prints will be fingerprint free and water resistant.
Equally advanced, versatile and even faster is the ML-500, which generates
up to 8x10 quality dry thermal prints in just 13 seconds flat. This means
up to 270 8x10 prints an hour, or four to six faster than other
dye-sublimation or inkjet printers.
Both ML-500 and 8500 printers involve dry imaging technology, thus no jets
to clog and no spills to worry about. They are ideal for print shops, lab
owners, service bureaus, and digital imaging operators, among others.
Most importantly, both printers are affordable, enabling users to recover
the cost in a very short turn around period.
Other details will be presented at the seminar and product launch, where
admission is free. Interested parties need only to register and confirm
their attendnace through Fiera de Manila, Inc. at telephone numbers:

KODAK SCORES BREAKTHROUGH IN DIGITAL CAMERA TECHNOLOGY
Kodak Professional has scored a breakthrough in digital camera, having
solved the problem of restrictive tethered operations of current 645-format
digital backs.
The solution comes with the new Kodak Professional DCS Pro Back 645C and
645M digital camera backs which showcase true digital portability,
unsurpassed image resolution, and ease of operation.
These 645 medium-format digital backs feature the acclaimed 16 mp CCD
sensor, LCD display and dimage management capabilities available in the
groundbreaking Kodak Professional DCS Pro Back Plus digital camera back,
and are compatible with the Contax 645 and Mamiya 645 AF camera systems.
As small as a 120/220 film magazine, they deliver handheld portability for
wedding portrait, on-location commercial and outdoor photography, as well
as efficient performance in the studio.
'Professional photographers now have the perfect digital solution to blend
the functionality and portability of an SLR camera with the quality look
and feel of medium-format photography," said Jay Kelbley, Worldwide product
manager, SLR cameras, Kodak Professional.
With an equivalent ISO of 100-400, these digital camera backs enable
photographers to shoot in various lighting situations. They are compatible
with all host camera functions, including auto-focus, and provide overall
creative flexibility for zooming, cropping, and re-purposing.
They are also fully compatible with the latest iterations of Kodak
Professional DCS Camera Manager, Photo Desk, Capture Studio and DCS Custom
Looks profiles software, and the new Kodak Professional Extended Range
Imaging (ERI) Technology file format.
The ERI technology is an innovative proprietary image format that provides
professional photographers ease of use of JPEG files with the images
quality and color/exposure control of Kodak's highly regarded DCR format
raw camera files.
"Our new file format technology was conceived as a convenient, extended
range JPEG format that provides the color management and image manipulation
that JPEG files do not," Kelbley explained.
The preserved extended-range information is compressed and then stored in a
special location inside the JPEG file. Specially-developed Kodak software
recovers this information and modifies the image based on user directed
controls.
The new file format will appear to portrait/wedding photographers, who want
simple workflows to shoot and print high volumes of images, but have
limited storage card space to preserve hundreds of image files.
Photojournalists who have long appreciated the high image quality and
exposure-compensation and color-balance capabilities of raw files, but who
desire the efficiencies of JPEG files, will like this new format in their
JPEG workflows.
Commercial photographers will realize similar benefits, as well as the high
capture volume and streamlined workflow that location shooters require.
Photographers in government, medical and science sectors who document
procedures and experiments in real time will reap the benefits of capturing
JPEG files that preserve all of the original image data.
All these will be presented in detail at a Kodak seminar an dproduct launch
at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Peninsula Manila Hotel at 1:00pm to 5:00pm,
August 06. Admission is free. Interested parties need only to register
and confirm their attendance through Fiera de Manila Inc. at telephone
numbers: 896-0639/37, 899-6893; fax 896-0637, 890-2101; email:

KODAK'S NEW PHOTO PRINTERS SET TOP SPEED, IMAGE QUALITY
Eastman Kodak has produced a new generation of thermal photo printers that
sets a historic record in speed and image quality.
This high-speed photo printer comes in two variants --- the Kodak
Professional 8500 Digital Photo Printer and the Kodak Professional ML-500
Photo Print System -- both posting huge increases in job turnaround and
customer satisfaction as a result of their remarkable features.
The 8500 Digital Photo Printer produces professional photo-quality prints
in a breeze - all in less than 75 seconds -- or right at the photo session
when customer impulse to buy is at its peak. This increases business
volume, repeat orders, and return on investment.
Moreover, this photo printer has a true continuous-tone capability that
generates outstanding image quality with photographic 'look and feel'. Its
highly-durable, professional-looking prints are water and fingerprint
resistant, and give customers a choice between a gloss and matte finish.
Likewise, its enclosed paper path enhances realibility and minimizes
remakes, thus enabling onwers to reduce cost and increase revenue.
And unlike several other printers, it can produce a variety of print sizes
--- up to a full 8x10-inch imageable area -- and is compatible with Windows
and Macintosh operating systems. An Adobe Photoshop Elements software is
also available as an option.
Similarly advanced, versatile and even faster is the ML-500, which
generates up to 8x10-inch quality dry thermal prints in just 13 seconds
flat. This translates to 270 8x10-inch prints an hour, or four to six
times faster than other dye-sublimation or inkjet printers.
Its 500-ft paper roll and ribbons enable a non-stop, unattended operation
for two hours, while its front-panel controls allow easy access to
operating and diagnostic functions.
Compact and easy to transport, the ML-500 has no HVAC or plumbing
requirements. All its needs is a 110-240VAC connection an dit can easily
plug into any workflow, including those involving th emost popular
professional software packages. As such, it can do a wide range of jobs
effectively and cost efficiency.
Very affordable, both ML-500 and 8500 printers involve dry imaging
technology for clean, clog-free and inexpensive operation. Their
photo-quality prints come at about half the cost of other thermal and
inkjet printers.
'This means huge savings, not only at the initial purchase, but also with
every print,' said Steve Seah, Kodak Professional Digital Manager for ASEAN.
All these will be presented in detail at a Kodak seminar an dproduct launch
