Topic: ABCs of Photoshop CS2

Shocked and awed at Photoshop’s power and complexity? Want to go beyond oido and really understand what Photoshop, the digital image professional’s tool of choice, is about? Before you take another step, take “The ABCs of Photoshop CS2.” The session will show you how to use Photoshop right, right at the start. Learn the essential topics: get familiar with Photoshop’s interface and tools; make those palettes disappear to simplify your work; find out how to make the right selections; organize your project with layers; and get introduced to resolution and scanning. Plus, at the end of the session, find out where to go beyond the ABCs with a summary of the new automated features that CS2 offers: Adobe Bridge, spot healing, color replacement and more.

Audience: New and self-taught users interested in professionalizing their digital craft, and photographers who are new into digital imaging will benefit from the clear instruction.

Topic: Advanced Photoshop Techniques

This session will explore different features of Photoshop CS2 and apply to them to advanced techniques. These include advanced image adjustments; specific adjustments using histogram palette and curves, luminosity, clipping display and hue and saturation; color correction techniques; creating transparent shadows from existing shadows; displacement maps; using extract on translucent objects; advanced blending techniques; and many more.

Audience: This session is for everyone who has mastered the fundamentals of Photoshop.

Topic: Scanning Techniques for Designers

If you’re scanning photographs, illustrations, logos and artwork, this session will cover important tips and techniques that will give you the best, most consistent results from scanning hardware and software. It will cover the correct approach to scanning, resolution, color depth, scanning calibration, scanner’s profile, and scanning techniques for achieving crisp line art and logo reproductions, better black and white photos, etc.

Audience: While this session primarily addresses the concerns of designers, photographers and scan operators can also benefit.

Topic: Photoshop CS2: Color Management & Printing

This session will explain how to implement the color management feature of Photoshop CS2 to get consistent, predictable and better print from your ink-jet and offset printing. It will also cover how to create a custom scanner, monitor, desktop printer and digital camera profile and other issues on color management.

Audience: This session is a must for anyone who has ever had a problem in color reproduction. Knowledge of Photoshop basics is recommended.

Topic: Photoshop CS2: Advanced Image Compositing

This session will examine the advanced features of Photoshop, including patch tool, blend if command, clipping mask, layer mask, liquify, displacement map and vector mask. Topic: Photoshop CS2: Advanced Portrait Retouching

While it will review some basic retouching techniques, this session will concentrate on developing a portrait retouching strategy, removing distractions and improving contours, improving skin texture, and enhancing facial features. It will also include some glamour retouching techniques.

Audience: This session is for Photoshop users who have mastered the basics.

Topic: Mastering Colors in Photoshop CS2

This half-day comprehensive session will help you master the different color correction and color enhancement techniques in Photoshop CS?. It will cover most of the Adjustment commands like Hue/Saturation, Selective Color, Channel Mixer, Match Color, Color Balance, Gradient Map and many more. It will also cover adjusting colors in Camera Raw. By providing real world examples, this session builds on each concept to provide better understanding of which techniques to use in each situation.

This session will concentrate on the features of Photoshop CS2 that allow you to customize your keyboards, create customized tools, and use automate commands, actions, batch processing, droplets. It will also give other tips to increase your productivity and maximize your time in Photoshop.

Audience: Knowledge of Photoshop basics is recommended.

Topic: Integrating CorelDRAW and Macromedia Flash

Flash animation is built around a specific type of object—vector graphic. Vector graphic may be produced in the built-in drawing tools of Flash. However, some animators may prefer using a pure vector software to create graphics. CorelDRAW offers robust and powerful vector-generating capabilities while ensuring integrability with Flash. This session aims to show the ease in exporting/importing content between these two vectorbased applications. In addition, it shall cover basic drawing techniques in CorelDRAW and basic animation techniques in Flash making it an ideal opportunity to explore two applications in one session.
