About
eCommerce Legal Forum Series
The advent
of the Internet and the New Economy pose unique policy and legal questions.
Undoubtedly, existing laws were enacted with real world situations in mind.
How could Congress have anticipated e-mail, mailing lists, USENET, or for
that matter, the World Wide Web? The contemplative and painstaking work of
legislators cannot keep pace with the development of new technology. Hence,
as technology creates new space for human interaction, existing laws are oftentimes
stretched to fit new-fangled problems. Sometimes, they fail altogether.
The eCommerce
Legal Forum Series is designed to provide up-to-date legal and technical information
to identify the issues facing the New Economy. It aims to enhance understanding
and provide enlightenment on those issues insofar as they relate to the Philippine
situation. The Forum Series strives to EQUIP its participants with the requisite
knowledge and expertise needed to succeed in the New Economy.
