Call for Entries, photo imaging & digital graphic design contest in 8th Graphic Expo 2003
The 8th Graphic Expo 2003, the country's premier tradeshow in digital imaging, pre-press,
print production & web publishing will be held on June 04-07, 2003 at the Philippine Trade
Training Center, Roxas Blvd, Manila. Graphic Expo showcases a wide range of products,
equipment, and services under a unique concept of workflow process complementation involving
digital photography, imaging & creative design, prepress, and print output - a "must-see"
annual event for every industry professional engaged in digital photography & imaging, graphic
design, prepress, print & web publishing.
Staged simultaneously with the 8th Graphic Expo is the Multimedia and Animation Show. The
perfect complementation of this twin show makes computer and web graphics relevant, timely,
and popular amongst creative designers, animators, graphic artist, and webmasters. It is designed
to address the challenges, prospects, opportunities, and expanding development of the Philippine
Animation industry. The Multimedia and Animation Show will not only serve as a sourcing and
upgrading venue for products and services but as learning ground as well for animation &
multimedia applications, video-editing techniques, etc
For four days, the event will hold various programs such as technology exhibition, seminars
series, workshop for digital photographers and web developers/designers, digital arts and animation
competition, video editing and animation software demonstrations, and different product presentations.
Graphic Expo holds the Digital Imaging Contest sponsored by FujiFilm YKL and Ynzal Marketing with the
theme on 'Glamour'. Photographers, digital artists, graphic designers, IT professionals are encouraged
to submit printed 8x10 size photo entries. The contest is open to amateur, hobbyists,enthusiasts,
students level. Qualified entries for the finals will be exhibit in Graphic Expo Imaging Gallery on
June 4-7. Deadline to submit entries will be on May 27, 2003.
Another competition in Graphic Expo is the Digital Art Contest in three (3) categories --- Digital
Graphic Design, Digital Fine Art, and Web Design. The competition is open to professional and amateur
digital artists, webmasters, graphic designers, photographers, IT and creative professionals. Submission
of entries is scheduled on May 16, 2003. Entries which qualified for the finals will be exhibit in Graphic
Expo Design Gallery.

Annual Animation Competition set in June
The 2nd Multimedia and Animation Show scheduled on June 04-07, 2003 at the Philippine Trade Training Center
will hold its annual animation competition during the 8th Graphic Expo 2003. Sponsored by Discreet this year,
world's best-selling and award-winning 3D solution, this program is organized to provide a platform for Philippine
animators to display their level of creativity and talent, for companies to promote their capability as service
bureaus in the animation industry, for institutes to display their training and education modules in molding future
animators, and to inspire new animators. This years' theme is the "Century of the Pacific". Participants will
attempt to blend the magnificent wealth of motifs, colors and symbols of the traditional and modern cultures of
East Asia and the Pacific with digital technology and motion graphics. The competition is open to both students
and professionals.
Competition Rules and Regulations:
Participants should work their respective entries based on the above theme in original 3D animation using 3ds
max 5 with 2 minutes running time.
Concept should be entertaining, no logos and brand names, no use of foul action and language. Social relevance
is optional.
Participation will be open to schools, universities, or training institutes with animation modules/courses only
for the student level. For professional level, it will be open to Participation will be open to animation or design
studios, and production houses.
A certification from the respective participating institution or companies should be submitted along with the
application form.
Each participant should submit a storyboard with proper description and sketches of their respective animation
concept on or before April 15, 2003
Copyright infringement will not be allowed and the list of sources of the audio-video materials used should be
submitted with the entries.
Hardware and software requirements will be provided by the contestants when selected for the final round.
Entries should be in CD Rom Format using Quicktime with 1024x768 resolution. No compression. Audio format
should be in 44khz 16bits stereo.
Deadline for submission of final entries is on May 23, 2003.
